Goodwill Success Story

Tuesday, Jun 2, 2015

The Community Service Volunteer Program activities are designed to provide participants with the work experience and skills training needed to become employed. These work opportunities provide participants with the job skills, understanding of workplace culture, and employer expectations required to be successful in finding and keeping a job.

Before Goodwill Stacie would stay home, walk around town, and watch TV with her son. She was trying to do the best she could with him, but once he started school, she knew there was more she could do. Now that she is part of Goodwill, Stacie feels better about her life and feels she has a lot of positive people surrounding her. She feels that she has accomplished a lot for her son and for herself. "In the beginning I didn't want to do my community service activity at Goodwill so I left. I came back a second time with a different outlook on things. I do things differently now. I learned I can be myself and this has helped me gain confidence and feel good about myself."
