My Goodwill Story, by Caseeandra Martin ( Desk Receptionist at Yara’s Aveda Concepts Salon in Sebastopol)
I was unemployed and not doing anything productive, living with my young daughter and boyfriend here in Santa Rosa when my worker from the county, Shawntel Reece, referred me to the Enhanced Subsidized Employment Program (ESE).
Participating in the ESE program taught me that I am capable of so much more than I ever imagined. I now know, that even with legal challenges, I can succeed.
The workshops were helpful, and my job developer, Monica Savon, provided support and guidance with interview practice and built up my confidence. It became easier to interview, and with the help of the ESE program and subsidy, I landed a job!
I transformed from being quiet, shy and ashamed of my past to being an outgoing, professional woman who now uses my past experiences to move forward. I now feel more confident and am excited to be entering the workforce with m y new found confidence and abilities. My past mistakes no longer weigh me down.
